Listed Real Estate & Demographics In The La Pine & Sunriver Area Of Central Oregon

La Pine & Sunriver Area Real Estate

La Pine, Sunriver, and the Three Rivers area can be found in central Oregon's southern Deschutes County close to the Newberry National Volcanic Monument, the ski areas of Mt. Bachelor & Willamette Pass, as well as the Cascade Lakes Scenic Byway.

La Pine (97739)

The city of La Pine (el. 4,236′) is located 30 miles south of Bend on HWY 97. Though founded in the 19th century, La Pine was unincorporated until 2006. The area was one of the first to prosper in central Oregon, but an early failed water supply and the rapid prosperity of Bend caused La Pine's growth to stagnate. However, with Deschutes County being one of the fastest growing counties in the country, La Pine has seen a resurgence and is now a popular commuter town to Bend.  In addition to its proximity to Bend, La Pine is also close to the communities of Sunriver and Three Rivers South.

Sunriver (97707)

Sunriver (el. 4,164′) is a census-designated place and planned resort community located west of HWY 97, seventeen miles south of Bend. The resort is located on the grounds of the former Camp Abbot, a World War II training facility which was started in 1942, but abandoned by 1944. Development of today's resort was begun in 1968. The community consists of condominiums, home sites, common areas, a commercial area called The Village At Sunriver, the Sunriver Resort Lodge (offering hotel rooms, banquet facilities, and a fine dining restaurant), four golf courses (two public and two private), and the SHARC (Sunriver Homeowner's Aquatic and Recreation Center). The resort also maintains an airfield and hosts the Oregon Observatory at Sunriver.  See also:  Destination Resorts.

Three Rivers South (97707)

Three Rivers South (el. 4,186′) is a census-designated place (CDP) and unincorporated community located west of HWY 97 between Sunriver's southern boundary along Spring River Road and State Recreation Road on the northern edge of La Pine.  It shares the 97707 zip code with Sunriver and Mt. Bachelor ski area. The "three rivers" in question are the Little Deschutes River, Big Deschutes River, and Fall River.  All of which flow through the area and eventually join together to form the Deschutes River. Three Rivers South is not to be confused with the 3 Rivers Recreation Area located roughly fifty miles to the north in Jefferson County (see Madras Area Real Estate and/or Destination Resorts). The private, gated communities of Crosswater and Caldera Springs are located immediately south of Sunriver and enjoy a relationship with the resort. Vandevert Ranch is a private, gated community located just south of Crosswater. The remainder of TRS is made up of a wide variety of subdivisions - each with their own identity and character.
